India, the world largest democracy, is going to witness its next general election in next 1 year which will be held in 2014. The current coalition which is UPA in its second consecutive term has been more or less "not very competitive". In last few months, government has started doing things which are good for nation but for most part of their tenure, it is a general perception that they haven't worked much.

Looking at their tenure of last 8-9 years, there is lot of anti-incumbency, so probably most of these sentiments are exaggerated and not 100 per cent true. But the matter of fact, they cannot deny the huge scams which has taken place in last few years.

Communal harmony and politics of appeasement has also been on a high. Recent comment of Home Minister where he talked about "Hindu Terror" bought embarrassment, not only for government but also for the country at large.

But as mentioned earlier, completely wiping out the positive work of this country won't be fair. This government under the leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has done well at the foreign policy front. They have handled china in a much better way than many other previous congress and non-congress governments. In case of Pakistan, things have been, more or less, steady. So, overall they have delivered a satisfying performance.

At economical front, high inflation has been a real pain for the public and government, as well.

At the larger economical front, they have taken few good steps like FDI in retail and deregulating Diesel prices. So these things once implemented can improve things at economical front.

This post is not an opinion but an attempt to initiate a discussion and see how people perceive the performance of this government.
